Extrema: Finding Minima and Maxima

We will be talking about one of the most useful features of derivatives: Optimization. Derivatives allow us to determine where functions achieve their (relative) highest points and lowest points. This gives us the ability to find “best case scenarios” and “worst-case scenarios” for many situations that can be modeled using functions. We will talk more about those sorts of applications in a few lessons.
